Ripple Backs National Cryptocurrency Association with $50 Million to Boost Crypto Education in the US

Today, the National Cryptocurrency Association (NCA), a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing public understanding of digital assets, was announced. Based in Miami, the NCA aims to demystify cryptocurrency and provide clear, accessible resources for Americans who use, hold, or are curious about crypto.

At the heart of this initiative is a substantial $50 million grant from Ripple, the San Francisco-based blockchain company, signaling a strategic push to bridge the knowledge gap in an industry that’s rapidly gaining mainstream traction.

Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple, expressed his support for the NCA, noting that 55 million Americans already hold or use cryptocurrency, with many more eager to learn how this technology can fit into their lives. “The opportunity for crypto—especially in the US—is now stronger than ever,” Garlinghouse said in the NCA’s press release.

His statement underscores Ripple’s commitment to fostering education and awareness, even as the NCA operates independently as a chain-agnostic and non-political entity. Stuart Alderoty, Ripple’s Chief Legal Officer, has taken on the role of NCA president, bringing his expertise to guide the organization’s mission of highlighting practical, everyday uses of crypto.

A recent survey conducted by Harris Poll, commissioned by the NCA, offers valuable insight into the need for this initiative. The poll, which surveyed 10,000 U.S. crypto holders between January 22 and February 3, 2025, found that 81% of respondents are interested in learning more about cryptocurrency’s future. Additionally, 76% reported that crypto has positively impacted their lives, citing benefits like increased financial independence, opportunities for personal growth, and even enjoyment from engaging with an innovative field. The survey also revealed diverse uses, such as 39% of respondents using crypto for shopping, 32% for buying or selling NFTs, and 31% for sending money to family, among others.

The Role of Education in Crypto Adoption

This push for education comes at a pivotal moment for cryptocurrency, as adoption grows but so does confusion and misinformation. The NCA plans to address these challenges by offering easy-to-understand explainers, real-life stories of crypto users, and partnerships to support safe adoption.

Visitors to NCA.org can explore these resources and meet individuals who benefit from crypto in their personal and professional lives, from shopping online to participating in decentralized gaming. The organization’s focus on cutting through the hype and providing factual guidance reflects a broader industry trend toward legitimacy and accessibility, particularly in the U.S., where regulatory uncertainty has long posed challenges.

Ripple’s investment and leadership involvement suggest a calculated effort to normalize cryptocurrency use, especially as the company navigates its own regulatory hurdles, including past disputes with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission over its XRP token. The NCA’s launch, backed by solid data and a clear mission, positions it as a key player in shaping public perception and fostering informed adoption across the country.
